Like many other mountain resorts, Courmayeur offers events of historical, artistic and cultural interest all year round. For example: projection of documentaries and slides, meetings and debates with famous people, singing events, musical evenings. The main locations of these initiatives are the Congress Center, in piazzale Monte Bianco, and the library. As many know, the most important event for 25 years was “Noir in Festival”, a great international festival of the “noir” genre of cinema. Until 2016, every year, the VIPs of the world of cinema gathered in the new spaces of the PalaNoir, to attend the screenings and decree the winning film. In the past, craft traditions have been handed down in almost all mountain locations, linked to the processing of wood, metals, fabrics, etc. Courmayeur testifies to these activities through the markets and craft fairs, which take place periodically in Entrèves or in the central stretch of Via Roma. Other similar events also take place in the various localities of the Valley between Aosta and Courmayeur: Morgex, Introd, Villeneuve, Saint-Pierre.

Courmayeur testifies to its intimate bond with the mountains in various forms: through meetings and conferences on Mont Blanc and the mountains in general, awards and debates on mountaineering, series of films on the mountain and, last but not least, by hosting important sporting events. Among these we can mention the races of the world freeride circuit, cycling events (for example, a stage of the Giro d’Italia) and the most famous mountain running races in the world: the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) and the Tor des Geants.

It takes a few minutes by car and about 15 minutes by bus. With a little more road and longer times, you can also go to the other side of Mont Blanc and participate in the intense life of Chamonix.
