This is our Sauna! New and welcoming, with a large stove to heat the private living-room with a view where you can relax with a herbal tea while looking at the fire. A large private bathroom, a shower, and of course the classic, wooden sauna, suitable for hosting up to 4 people is avalialble for you any time in the afternoon.
The word sauna is an ancient Finnish word whose etymology is not entirely clear, but which, probably, could have been originally related to the meaning of winter dwelling. To have a sensation of greater heat, steam was produced by throwing water on stones that had already become hot on the fire.
THE SAUNA AT THE HOTEL AIGLE
For the use of our sauna a reservation is required as its use is reserved for one customer at a time (single, couple, family, friends) to guarantee total privacy and comfort.

Temperature: 65°C-80°C is the optimal temperature
Recommended duration: 45 minutes

WHAT IS INCLUDED:
Private use of the sauna; private relax-room; supply of 1 bathrobe, 1 towel and a pair of slippers per person; shower kit.
INDICATIONS FOR THE USE OF THE SAUNA:
Groups of max 4 people; access to the sauna is not recommended for children under 16; reservation required at least 90 minutes before the time of use; the sauna is available every day from 4.00 pm to 7.45 pm.
ATTENTION: IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER THE SAUNA WITH SLIPPERS.

Hotel Aigle is a charming hotel well integrated with the high mountain atmosphere that reigns in Entrèves, yet it provides with all the modern facilities and comforts. Dinners and breakfasts are served in our spacious restaurant which is located in the lower ground floor. The Aigle Hotel is furnished 16 rooms located over the upper floors and a modern lift connects them to the common areas on the lower floors. All rooms are large and welcoming, with two or three beds, all with bathroom and equipped with every comfort, and additional beds can be set up on request.
What is a sauna used for?
The purpose of a sauna is to warm up your body. Saunas can be used in a number of ways. Some people say the best time for a sauna is after working out, while others prefer to save saunas as a relaxing experience reserved for a vacation or spa experience. Others may use them for health reasons under the supervision of a doctor.
Traits of history of the sauna
Roman and Greek bathhouses led the way to the sauna spas of today. Originally, these were intended to purify and detox the body but evolved into social meeting places.
The Turkish Hammam was a type of communal, gender-specific bathhouse built inside intricately designed buildings. These were important for social and spiritual gatherings and became an integral part of socialization for both men and women.
Native American sweat lodges are also a type of sauna, being a place to sweat, pray, and connect spiritually.
